Perfectly placed between Port Elizabeth and East London is Port Alfred , where the Kowie River flows through the town, spanned by two bridges and out into the Indian Ocean.

Port Alfred has grown from early Settler origins to a premier holiday destination on the sparkling Sunshine Coast. Today Port Alfred is the ‘heart of the sunshine coast’ and is home to a large yacht harbour, residential marina and is an active commercial and residential town with a Gary Player golf course at the Fish River Sun and a number of cinemas, restaurants and shopping centres. The wonderful warm Indian Ocean and a largely temperate climate make Port Alfred’s beaches wonderful for swimming and collecting shells. Port Alfred is a water sport enthusiast’s destination enhanced by the navigability of the Kowie River for some 28 km upstream.
